Allietare - And So It Begins - Bonnie Hunter - Mystery Quilt

Happy Halloween!  Bonnie has greeted our day with the arrival of the mystery colors and theme for this year.  Can I say this loud enough?  I LOVE THEM!!!  We are at retreat and are so lucky because one lady had to make a trip into town and returned with cards for several of us.  Let the fabric selecting begin.

As soon as I return home from retreat, I am off to the studio to see what I can pull from stash.  It looks like a great start.  I'm not going to pull neutrals until I need them as I want to use strips first.  I will also still pull strips and sample fabrics in the colors within the next few days.  Still loving these.

2nd - It's a play day!!!!  I love Fridays for two reasons.  First, I get the car.  Yes -- that is truly fun stuff for me.  But today, the second reason is waaaay better.  Lunch with the girls!! Shopping!!   To read all about our simply marvelous day, please click on this LINK.  Once home, my day just gets better and better.  Date night -- oh yeah.  Perhaps the day can get a wee bit better.  EARLY post on ROL ---- hope everyone has fun with Clue 6.  All Ribbons of Love clues can be obtained by clicking the tab at the top of the blog (just below the picture).

Ribbons of Love - Clue 10 --- THE BIG REVEAL!!!!!!

Happy Halloween!!!  Should it be a Trick or a Treat today?  Are you just dying to see the finished product?  Lucky you -- because today is the day.  The big reveal.  But first -- a word from our sponsor -- me.

There are four corners, four borders (both inner and outer), four cornerstones, and four side center sections of the top.  Let's focus on four important aspects of women.  A woman:

Learns daily
Opens herself to new ideas and adventures
Views the world with wonder and
Enriches her life by surrounding herself with family and good friends.

Obviously that shows that we LOVE with every fiber of our being.

Unfortunately there are many women who have to struggle with violence in their lives in one form or another.  I was one such woman.  Let these Ribbons of Love subtly remind us that we are to be treasured always.  To be strong.  To help one another.  To love ourselves enough to not allow others to do harm to us.  We can do it.

I have learned to love myself.  It was oh so hard, but it has happened.  Now, all I can say is the past 10 weeks have literally flown by.  I want to thank everyone for participating in my first mystery and I hope that it has been a pleasant experience for each of you.  I have learned a great deal and hope you have as well.

Okay --- let's get this top finished shall we?

Meet and Greet With Warehouse Shopping Done Right

Stephannie has been at it again and I am thankful for a chance to get to have girl time.  Woot woot!  Can you see me doing the jig?

It is raining like crazy here, BUT I am going to brave it again (yesterday was way worse on my way to Jen's --- see link) for it is worth it.  Seriously -- friends AND shopping.  So worth it.

Turns out the roads are great and the rain lets up.  First stop:  Mama's Daughter's Diner for breakfast.  I am the last to arrive.  Let me say that again cos I know you are in shock and probably think you read that wrong.  I AM the last to arrive.  Wow.  I know that is a first.  The table is full of wonderful ladies and I am blessed to meet some new friends.  (I had to take pictures from both ends as a request, lol and once again I have managed to evade the camera.)  Hello Virginia, Sue Ellen, Barbara, Lori, Stephannie, Becky, and Catherine.  Okay, let's eat and visit.

Ribbons of Love - Clue 9

NINE!!!! Just how many more of these are there, you ask?  Well, as before --- it's a mystery.  To all of us.  Actually, it's truly getting difficult now not to give it away.  BUT, I'm gonna keep trying.

Have you read the entire clue?  Please do so before cutting or sewing.  All the way to the bottom now - everyone together.

EVERYONE:  Cut 16 - 2" x 5" Neutral bricks, 16 - 2" x 3 1/2" Neutral bricks, 8 - 2" green squares, and 8 - 2" purple squares.  GUESS WHAT????   That is almost the END of cutting for the units.  Just two more little section in the U and Y units.  I hope you didn't run out of anything and that you used up all your little bits and pieces.

Sew the 2" green squares onto 8 of the 2" x 3 1/2" bricks.  Ah, my lovely Coco is doing such a great job.

Visiting with Jen --- A Little Work Too

I've been invited to Jen M's for lunch and a visit.  Yes, I am going.  Was there any question about that?  It is pouring cats and dogs out.  I can't see the windshield but am going to drive up to Haslet.  Am I crazy?  Perhaps, but we take the opportunities whenever we can.

I get there and the first thing I do is ask for help with the mystery.  I have this beautiful backing and am unsure how to load the quilt into my frame to get the pattern centered.  Thank you Jennifer, for helping me to understand that.

Ribbons of Love - Clue 8

Week 8 has arrived.  I'm in Utah and lovin' on my baby granddaughter so I hope this post goes well.  It's a bit more this week as it's getting close now.  Oh goodness.  Who has it figured out?  This is really getting tough for me.  I want you to keep building and yet don't want to give it away.  Are you ready to get started?  As always, PLEASE read all the way through first.  Get ready, get set, go.

Unit P (make 8):

Right off the bat we are using reserved "threesies".  Yay!  These will go together in  a snap.  From your reserve, pull 8 N/B/N's (12 remain), 8 B/N/P's (0 remain), and 8 N/P/N's (8 remain).  Got em?

Ribbons of Love - Clue 7

Week SEVEN!!!!  Seriously??  Where has the time gone?  I am thrilled each week watching everyone's units and blocks come together.  It's getting harder and harder to keep you from knowing everything.  Truly using lots of brain cells here.

Oh -- you should be happy for me today!  Yes indeed.  I am on the road out of town for a weekend with my sweetie.  It is our 5th anniversary.  We did the binary thing since I'm married to an IT guy -- 10/10/10.  I hope you enjoy your day as much as I'm going to.

Shall we get started this week?  I hope you have been using up all the little bits leftover from each unit and clue.  It could make a difference.  PLEASE read all the way through as usual.  I don't want anyone missing anything.  There are FIVE units plus an additional build.

Lunch with Amazing Ladies -- AND -- some fabric too.

You know when ya just gotta get together with friends?  Well you send up a "meet me for lunch" post and hope for the best.  I got super lucky and within no time, had a wonderful group to get together with.  Today is the day and off I go.

We are meeting in downtown Carrollton and I arrive a wee bit early so stop in the antique shop first.  I know, I know --- there is a fabric store right here on the square, but oooohhh the chance of seeing a machine topped it.  The minute I walk into the store I am greeted by this fantastic spinning wheel.  Hmmm.  I would like to try this sometime for sure.

I spot a few quilts right by it and then round the corner to discover a sweet little Featherweight in a locked cabinet.  It's priced a bit high so I pass on it with both a purchase and a picture.  The next area contains these cute little irons.  Oh, I am so afraid to buy even one for fear that they will feel the need to reproduce at home.

Ribbons of Love - Clue 6

Week Six!  So glad to see you still sewing along with us.  Watching the clues come together has been such a delight for me.  Do you feel like you are making ground?  Well, after today's clue you should really feel as though things are coming together and hopefully I will not have given too much away.  Keeping this broke down so that it's not clear is tougher than I thought it would be.

Onward!  PLEASE read all the way through the clue before starting.
