January 2023 Quilt Update

Our theme this year, Binding Us Together, is just so needed.  If you didn't get a chance to check out the post explaining it all --- here is the LINK to the initial post.  I'm looking forward to the direction this can take us all, but especially myself, if I give it a whirl.  Sometimes stepping out of comfort zones is challenging, but it almost always allows for growth.  January means new beginnings and I'm thinking that joining sew-a-longs can be a great way to continue our theme.  How about you?

Minneapolis Airport Stop - Small Quilt Exhibit

We are in Minneapolis with a short layover and as we walk the mall area, I notice a small quilt exhibit along one wall.  It is called "Seasons" and is from the Minnesota Chapter of Studio Art Quilt Associates.  They wrote, "This exhibit is an expression of our love for the four seasons of the Midwest.  With the change of the seasons, we change the way we dress, what we eat, and our activities.  We want to celebrate the bounty that we find in each season."

First is "Happy Alps" by Enid Gjelten Weichselbaum (2017).  She writes, "I loved watching cartoons as a child - not just for the stories, but for the drawing.  I still love these graphic, simple, and evocative images, especially the stylish mid-century early animation of television and moves.  It was a particular scene that inspired this quilt."
