Helping Jennifer

When my daughter, Jennifer, sent up a HELP to get a project done for her Master's class and it involved quilting, what's a girl to do?  THE SAME THING.  After posting for help several responded and arrive at my house early Saturday morning to see what how we can help her.

Once we have our little sweat shop built, it's pedals to the metal and sew, sew, sew.  She is doing a Tesla themed Quilt As You GO with the blocks already made.  Our job is to sash and attach the blocks to each other and then into rows.

While this is going on --- my house is crazy nuts.  That blob on the sofa behind me in the picture above is my 17 year old granddaughter, trying to sleep.  Other rooms hold four grandchildren ranging from 4 - 15 and a grandfather who is being a dream and supervising everything as well as making a yummy dessert with the 7 year old.  We owe him big time.  YES --- the sweat shop is having some fun as well.

We are also making great progress.  It's starting to look like a quilt and we have the borders quilted and ready to go as well as the binding.

Around noon, it becomes a one person job and everyone else, including me, packs it in leaving Jen to sew away.  A very heartfelt thank you to Allison and Valerie for the wonderful rescue and the dear friends they are to me.  I am off to swim with kiddos and will help finish when I return.  (Keep reading past the picture)

When I get back from taking the grands swimming, Jen has all the rows together and the binding attached.  We quickly clean up the living room and start in on making the Chopped video that my granddaughter, Elena, has requested --- ah but that is for another entry.

When the house finally quiets down - I nestle in with this sweet quilt and finish the binding by hand.  I think it looks amazing.  What a great concept Jen.  Full picture, then top half and bottom half up close.  Yep, because the borders were pre-quilted and sashed with cornerstones, my measurements were off and they wave a bit.  Life goes on.

  1. Awww, with as much as you had going on with the grands how could we not pitch in and help? Such a wonderful concept Jen conceived and it was a pleasure to to help out. Please keep us posted as to what her professor thought of her efforts.
