Brazos House Retreat - Going On a Picnic

Summer retreat time is so much fun!  It's been a bit since we've all been together and what could more fun when it's crazy hot outside than to sew with friends?  Unfortunately, our host and hostess have had a rough go lately and surgery was involved, so I travel down a day early to help with set up.  When I arrive, the house is still a "house" and a lot needs to happen.  Alrighty then --- time to get to it.

All of the furniture is moved out and all the tables and chairs are brought in and electric is set up.  It's pretty under control by the time Gwen gets here and I've moved onto emptying the closet and turning the living room into a work room.

What's the river like?

A trip into town for dinner and Sam comes over to join in.  Good times with good friends.  Now, back to the center to finish up and get some rest before everyone arrives tomorrow.

21st  - Just look!!  The room is entirely different and FILLED with laughter and fun.  Catching up takes place along with "look at this" and "where did you get that?" statements.  Perfect retreat moments.

Some people are actually making progress.  I have not taken a lot of pictures yet AND it's obvious I don't even have nametags in the right places.  Goodness.  Maybe I was just updating Lana's - it's possible.

A couple of TA-DA's for today --- Stephannie with a stitchery and Jen with a pillow (even quilted and bound - she's productive).

More scenes from the room.

We're trying the ramp out this time.  The cones will help us to not fall over the sides as we ae walking.  At least that's the plan.  Time will tell.

Our theme is Going on a Picnic and we've done our best to make the dining hall fit.  We planned a picnic dinner that included fried chicken and I had a bit of a snafu at the store when picking it up, but things always have a way of working themselves out and the food was fabulous.  Wish I'd gotten a picture, but it doesn't seem to be my strong suit today.

It's been a long day and I am done in quite early.  Last ladies standing --- You go girls.

22nd -  We have an apron TA-DA today.  Virginia made it Kori is modeling for her.

Stephanie has a bag TA-DA

Stephannie with two more cross stitch TA-DA's.

Round one goes to the mustard (Jen) - and she takes home a beautiful jelly roll.

Round two has her condiment partner taking another jelly roll - Congrats Sam.  Together, ladies!!

Well, it's back to the grind.

Jen keeps her productivity up with a finished back made from all her top leftovers.  I taught her well.

AND --- drumroll please, I made it to last ladies.  Woot woot!!!

23rd - Good Morning once again.  We have a visitor today.  Welcome Stephanie ---  yep, there's three of the little buggers here.

Chow time!!

Stephannie made a wonderful brunch and everyone happily enjoyed.

Gather round y'all.  We're trying for a group photo.  Mister has actually ordered me a selfie stick for this very reason.  He's tired of the little chipmunk in the corner.  HAHAHAHAHA

Back row:  Terry, Gwen, Sam, Stephannie, Debi, Kori, Kelly, Jen  Front row:  Frieda, Tonia, Lana, Stephanie, Marcia, Janet, and Virginia.  What a fun group.

Our newbie!!!  Welcome to Kori and we're so glad you are here.

A pouch TA-DA from Stephanie.  What a great use of Tula fabric and ribbons.

Frieda with a TA-DA - Christmas in July

Stephannie with another little bag/pouch.

There have also been a couple of ladies working on Boxy Totes for their Featherweights.  Lana has her TA-DA!!!  Or is that TA-DONE?

Janet with her TA-DAs

Last night, last ladies.  We had soooo much fun this weekend.  Lots of love and laughter taking place --- and maybe even a cruise in the works.  Love y'all so much.

24th - It's sad but, as they say (who is the all-knowing "they"?), all good things must come to an end.  Well, not a total end, but an ending of the weekend.  It's our last morning together and I really am not in a hurry to pack up.

Late, late, LATE last night, Sam finished her Boxy Tote.  TA-DONE!

And Stephannie has a couple more zipper pouches.  TA-DA

The work begins and I am blessed with a great crew that helps to the bitter end.  Thank you all so very much.  Brazos Out!  Next return here?  October. See you then.
