July Quilt Update

Welcome to the Monthly Update.  What does that mean?  Well, it's just little ol me trying to recap what took place during the month so that I can keep track.  I kind of use it like a journal.  Please sit back and enjoy a peek into a month of my life.

Any links that you click in this post will open in a DIFFERENT window, allowing you to continue reading this without losing the page.

The previous 2017 monthly update links are located at the end of this entry.  I hope that you make it that far.

Goals:

Easy Street (ES) - quilted, bound -
Garden Party (GP) - quilted and bound -
Midnight Flight (MF) - blocks made
BOM (blue) quilted and bound -
BOM (Thimbleberries)  quilted and bound -
BOM (pink) quilted and bound -

1st - Summer camp sessions are still in full swing.  With one week remaining before this one ends, the list of ideas still have some unchecked items.  Today the DMA is on tap and while there, they have an exhibit by Iris van Herpen entitled, "Transforming Fashion."  That sounds like fabric to me so we make a point to check it ou.  I have to tell you that some of these dresses look dang uncomfortable but give it up to creativity.

Ava's Quiet Book

6/7  Miss Ava, my granddaughter, is turning one next month and since I made her sister a quiet book for her first birthday and personalized it so that it was unique and "just hers", I am about to embark on a second adventure.  To see the first one, here's your LINK.  It likely has more construction pictures and info than this one as, well, this is round two.

Apparently you CAN teach an old dog new tricks because I learned a LOT the last time.  I will not start out by doing a couple pages at a time.  Each step will be completed for all pages at the same time.  Now where to start?

Out to the studio I go.  Do I have enough solid fabric stored?  YES!!!  Wohoo -- a little happy dance here.  That's my big step forward for today.  I have a grandson visiting and limited time.

Heritage Village Treasures

We've opted to do a real step back in time type of Indepence Day celebration.  My sweet man looked into the Heritage Village in Dallas and found that they were doing things up right today.  Therefore, it' a plan and we are off for some fun.  With three grands in tow, I'm sure it will be a blast.

Upon our arrival, it's already apparent that this will be special and I'm in heaven.  You can read all about our day by clicking on this LINK and scrolling down to day two.  I am only going to highlight a few things in this separate writing.

Several of the old homes have great mementos of the past and I just can't stop my camera from clicking.  Take a stroll back in time with me through pictures.  It's pretty sweet.

June Quilt Update

Welcome to the Monthly Update.  What does that mean?  Well, it's just little ol me trying to recap what took place during the month so that I can keep track.  I kind of use it like a journal.  Please sit back and enjoy a peek into a month of my life.

Quiet Book - All pages cut out and all little parts cut out -- embellishments all bought.

1st -  It is summer and that means that I will have kids all month long.  Obviously my goals will not be met, but some sewing and quilting may occur in between events.  At least my fingers are crossed for that.  Today Jacob is here and sleeping in so first thing I tackle two more old blog entries and am able to mark them as done.  Now what to do?  My leg is driving me nuts. I have been bothered by a rash on my leg for a week now and it is really starting to travel and get worse.  I am biting the bullet and heading for the doctor.  After a quick appointment which  nets me some steroids, antibiotics, and hydrocortisone cream, we are off to Central Market for groceries.  It's a pretty boring day for a grandson that is 14 and I feel bad for him, but dang --  my leg is a mess.   Dinner is at Smash Burger, as requested, and nothing has changed since the last time we were there.  I think that was their final death march for us.  No more Smash Burger.  When asked the difference between a regular and large burger, the attendant held up two cups and explained to me that one was regular and one was large because one was bigger than the other.  Honest.  You can follow along with this  Jacob visit link to see all that we do.  Oh, he and Grandpa are working on photography this week --- cameras everywhere.

1st -  Happy May Day!  This goal of trying to get my blogs all caught up is sure resulting in one heck of a lot of time clicking away at the keyboard.  I have been at it  ALL day again and somehow I lost four hours,  Yes FOUR!  How does that happen.  After racing around the house like a crazy woman (because the clock freaked me out), I manage to be ready as the DART bus arrives and take me to the train station.  Wow.

Mister picks me up and we are off to see Mom H. fora  visit.  After that --- woohoo -- dinner out with my sweetie.  We are trying I ❤ Pho for the first time and the name rings true.  It's very good.

A Day At The Beach - Introduction

Woohoo!  It's time.  Lift your glass in a "Cheers" and let's get started.  I am so excited that you are taking this journey along with me and have such high hopes that everyone will have some fun along the way.  If you are new to mysteries, please give this a shot.  I PROMISE it will not be too difficult and that the process will be enjoyable.

The past couple of years Ribbons of Love and Chasing the Sun produced so many absolutely beautiful quilts and I am humbled by the number of people who have sewn my design.  I thank you one and all.  Perhaps the greatest honor I have received is to sign or be photographed with the quilts made by those who participated in the mysteries.  I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Are you ready?  I know I am.  Let's get started.

A Day At The Beach - Summary

Can you believe it's my third mystery!!  I am shocked at how time has flown and yet am super excited.  I hope ya'll have just oh so much fun with it and please, please, please share what you have done.  I can't wait to see each one.  The first clue goes live September 1st.  Yes, it is a week later this year, but I am traveling with my sweetheart the week before and want to be available to answer questions, thus the delay.

I am gathering all of my mystery posts and placing them here so that you can link up and find what you want easily.  They will each open in a new page, leaving you access to this post.  You can always find this page by clicking the tab at the top of the blog.  Please become a follower and you will always know when the new post is up.  Welcome to everyone and comments are always appreciated.
