R Quilt Haven in Abilene, TX

I am in Abilene, TX to watch my grandsons swim AND to celebrate my daughter's birthday.  We have arrived a wee bit early and one of the local quilt shops just opened.  It happens to be just a few blocks from the pool and that makes it even more doable.  Are you ready?  Here is R Quilt Haven.  Take a peek around with me.

Autumn Splendor - Clue 8

Well, my anniversary has come and gone.  Wow -- the years are flying by.  One of my favorite anniversary trips was the one we took to New England as "leaf peepers."  Oh the beauty of it all will never leave my mind and just in case it does -- I have pictures.  Not these ones though.  Again, the following are from my 'hood.

If the year goes just right, we get the entire color scheme during the fall.  I love the reds, oranges, and golds that permeated the landscape and leave just a hint of green behind.  What a glorious time of year.

Flower Mound Antiquing

With a quilt drop-off in Flower Mound as a task for today and a sweetheart who is off work, we are making it a "try a new quilt shop" moment.  It is actually in Lewisville and called the Antique Gallery.  What a fun place!  The first booth nets us a new rolling pin and Mister is pleased as it is a Foley and I have wanted one for a LONG time.  Check out these great alphabet block creations.  We are thinking grandkids could so something similar with just stuff we have at home.

A quick shout out to friends as well as  I spot sock monkeys and skulls, making me think Sherri, Stephannie, Ana, and Meri Roo.

Clifton and Waxahachie - Antiques, Diana Buckley, and Common Threads

Mister and I are running around the Texas countryside for the weekend and have stopped in at a few places that may interest y'all.

Here are a few "fun" items spotted at an antique shop in Clifton: (Sherri -- these Pez items were super cheap) and who knew that there was a Bosque Root Beer?

When did Harry Potter become an antique?  My goodness, I am getting old.

Autumn Splendor - Clue 7

Oh my, oh my.  The middle of October is almost upon us.  For us, that means the end of this mystery is in sight.

I'm back from a wonderful retreat down in Rainbow, TX on the Brazos River.  It's such a fantastic time of year --- Retreat Season, of course.   Oh -- you thought I was going to say Autumn.

Have you taken the time to go outside and just bask in the beauty of fall this year?  I have loved the cooler temperatures and rainy days.

October Brazos Retreat - Spooktacular Fun

October means a return to Rainbow, TX and Brazos House.  It is like coming home and I can feel the peace settling in as I get closer and closer.  Being in the country appeals to me more with each passing year and the simple joy of stopping to see cattle and birds sharing a meadow happens often.  Mom and her little aren't real pleased that I have stopped, but my heart is loving each moment.

Autumn Splendor - Clue 6

Ahhh, living with hardwoods at this time of year is just calming.  All the gorgeous colors running amok in the backyard just make my heart so very happy.  I think what they say about certain colors for certain people is true.  I am a redhead and naturally drawn to oranges, browns, golds, etc.  Nature provides them to me each autumn and it has always been my favorite season.

This week, those are the colors we will be playing with and as I am once again at retreat, I am hoping that I will be able to walk in the woods and along the river, experiencing some myself as well.  My fingers are crossed.
