June 2021 Monthly Update

Welcome to June and your new "I AM."  May was challenging for me and as a result, June is meeting me head on and a certain streak within me is rising.  Tenacious is a nicer word for it.  Can you overcome something this month?  I AM going to face this month with a tenacious frame of mind.  Come along.

If you are new to the blog, you may be asking, "just what is a monthly update?"  I decided long ago that I just can't keep up with blogging daily.  I just can't.  Sooooo, what happens is I document a day in my life within one post and if something special happens, a separate post takes place.  See, you can stay caught up with a once a month check and then, if you're interested, see the other posts too.  It's a great system for me.

In years past, I have set goals for each month and I will continue to do that simply to keep myself on track.  I AM still in an ongoing UFO mode around here and trying oh so hard to use or clean out the stash.  It will be an continuing project this year.  If I want something to come in -- something has to go out.  That is one goal.  The balances change each month (hopefully) and will always show up at the bottom of the update if you read that far - and they are joined by links to the previous monthly updates for the year.

Now, grab a cuppa and sit back for a fun read and perhaps a new idea or two.   (P.S. I format on a computer, so if you are reading on a phone, well sometimes the pictures will be before or after the story.  It is what it is.)

Quilted Works Spotlight - St. George, UT

Killing time before our flight out of St. George gives me an opportunity to check out Quilted Works in St. George.  I am SOOOOOO glad I had this chance.  What a great shop and Annika made it all perfect by visiting with me for a bit.  Take a peek.

May 2021 Monthly Update

Welcome to May and the new "I AM."  So, so many instances happen in our lives where it feels as though ideas are just below the surface and wanting to burst out.  Right?  Mostly at 2 a.m. when one is trying to sleep, but they are there no matter what.  Putting our thoughts into action is what causes the whole thing to derail at times, BUT the energy is always there.  Let it happen.  Sit down and write out your ideas when they appear to your mind.  Allow them to grow and develop.  Being creative is what we are.  It's what makes us tick.  Let it happen.

May 2021 Tweener Time at Brazos

9th - The first session of retreat has ended and we are in "Tweener Time" - a much loved and anticipated break of the hustle and bustle of a full room.  We've been inside most of the weekend and I looked up a couple places in the area that may be interesting to visit.  Jen and I are itching to get out a bit and off we go.  The first stop is the "Outlaw Station" - otherwise known as the Ed Young Station.  It is very easy to get to and sits right off of old highway 67.  How cool is this?  The station began in the 1920's during prohibition.  They sold gasoline and other items but it was really a front for moonshine distribution.  The building is made from petrified wood and colored brick.  History shows petrified wood was enjoying popularity during this time and Glen  Rose was dubbed, "The Petrified City."  As we drove the area, I saw many instances where it is still in place and used.  The last time this particular building was actively in use was as a legitimate gas station/grocery store in the 60's but it has stood empty since.

"Call Me Irresistible" - May Brazos Retreat

The May retreats have arrived and weekend one begins today.  I'm excited and sad at the same time as this is the end of "retreat season" and we have over two months before another one.  Ahhh, stop that and on with the fun.

As I drive in, this sweet mom/baby is there to greet me.  What a cutie and we must have just missed his birth since last retreat.

I am doing some purging at home and have been selling items, putting them on the swap table, and just generally trying to re-home the things I just don't have room for and don't use.  It's not that I don't love them --- it's just crazyville in my house.
