Flower Mound Antiquing

With a quilt drop-off in Flower Mound as a task for today and a sweetheart who is off work, we are making it a "try a new quilt shop" moment.  It is actually in Lewisville and called the Antique Gallery.  What a fun place!  The first booth nets us a new rolling pin and Mister is pleased as it is a Foley and I have wanted one for a LONG time.  Check out these great alphabet block creations.  We are thinking grandkids could so something similar with just stuff we have at home.

A quick shout out to friends as well as  I spot sock monkeys and skulls, making me think Sherri, Stephannie, Ana, and Meri Roo.

Antiquing A Bit

We have been holed up in the house forever it seems.  I know, it's by choice but a wee bit of getting out might be nice.  We'll just be careful so that my sweetie doesn't have a relapse.  Yes, he is STILL coughing - since Christmas.  ugh.

First stop is Half Price Books where a lovely little coffee/pastry shop resides inside.  Black Forest Coffee is part of Henk's European Deli and Black Forest Bakery, which reside behind Half Price Books.  If you like German food, you'd love them.  Once our sweet treat and drink are finished, we make a stop at Home Depot for some bird seed to keep our feathered friends happy.  They start staring in the windows at us when it is out.  No joke.

Once our assigned errand is finished, we both come to the conclusion that it has been awhile since setting foot in an antique shop of any kind.  That needs to be remedied and right now.  City View Antique Mall is just down the street and a great place to begin.  We are only there a few minutes a I spot this case under a table.  Ooooooh.  The tag says $65.00 and I'm even more excited.  Then I pull out the case and although it is in remarkable condition, it is empty.  Just the case for that price and, again, it is in great shape and if you need one -- well here ya go.

Antiquing in West Texas

Today is a bit more casual since we really don't have any specific agenda or place to see.  As we arrive in Anson, TX, I spot the Anson Antique Mall and Mister quickly makes a turn to check it out.  Yay.  I love antiquing and we haven't really had much of a chance to enjoy it lately.  Note to self:  do this more.

I grab a few pictures to share with ya'll as I wander the aisles.  Enjoy the eye candy.  Do YOU remember these comic books.  I lived for each new one to come out.  Yes, I was that silly pre-teen/teen girl.

A Day With the Girls

Happy Halloween!  The sun is not quite up and I am on my way for a day with gal pals.  As I take Mister to work, the sunrise is just beginning.  It even has a Halloween feel to it.

A Vintage Night at the Auction

Oooh, oooh, oooh.  There are vintage lovelies at the auction tonight so we are off to give ourselves some wonderful eye candy.  Will something come home with us?  One never knows.

Quilts -  A couple were really old and hand stitched.  Those went for more than I was willing to pay, alas.

Antiquing and Quilt Shop Fun in Texas

Mister took me up to Wichita Falls for the weekend and we are having such a good time.  Today, on the way back, a few stops along the way contain the type of fun stuff ya'll might enjoy.

First up:  Aunt Pam's Closet in Henrietta, TX.  We were simply driving down the street in front of it and my eagle eye spotted "Longarm Machine Quilting" in the window.  Must stop!  Mister obediently pulls the car over instantly and in we go.

Land O'Lakes Quilt Guild - Allison Presenting

While at Maria's yesterday, it was mentioned that Allison is presenting at the Land O'Lakes Quilt Guild in Lewisville.  Maria is the president of the guild and we have all been invited.  Well dang -- the first thing I did upon arriving home is ask Mister if we could go.  It would mean me taking the train to meet him after work and him having to come along.  Gotta love that man of mine, he said yes.  Not only did he say yes, but he suggested that we get there early enough to help Allison get set up.  No, he is not for rent.

We arrive a little more than an hour before the meeting starts and although Allison has already had help unloading the car, we pitch in and get the stage set up.  Beautiful machines everywhere.

Another Adoption in Our Home

We have been blessed with another baby.   She is a 403a needs some cleaning and loving --- more info to come later about her.

NE Texas TOGA

Lone Oak, Texas -- here we come.  Mister and I are off bright and early this morning for a fun day in an area of Texas that is new to me.  Our destination is the Matthews Retreat Center and the TOGA -- Treadle On Gathering Academy.  I am so hoping to walk away with a new (to me) hand crank.  Fingers are crossed and here we go.

Upon our arrival, we are greeted at the door by Valerie, and she makes us feel right at home.  Name tags are on and we are ready to check things out.  There is someone at the registration desk, another manning a sale booth, and a room full of machines.  Some are being sewn on, some are being repaired, some are just to show off, and still others are hoping to find new homes.  Oh, the eye candy is everywhere.  Mister and I start moving around the room, checking each machine out and learning a bit along the way.  As he stops to check out a purple Featherweight, I can hear him say, "I have one at home that I need to paint."  Oh yeah --- he hasn't forgotten.

One More Billings Stop --- Lockwood

I am out at my son's house in Lockwood, just outside of Billings, MT and there is a quaint little quilt shop here within walking distance.  Yes, it is about 12 degrees outside, but I am bundled up and the walk feels good.  The sun is shining and I am enjoying the brisk air.

I arrive at Treasured Times Quilting And Gifts and am thrilled the minute I walk in the door.  Holding true to this area, each shop is unique and well displayed.   My first view is of a St. Pat's table right by the door.  It takes me all of about 30 seconds for my first item to be stored safely in my hand.  Oooooh, I see a March retreat project happening.

Billings Shop Hop - Day One -

I have some free time this morning putting a couple of quilt shops to the top of the list of things to do.  After some mapping and research, it turns out that out of the TEN shops here in town four of them are private homes/quilters.  That leaves me six shops to check out.  Two are near me and open this morning so off I go.  First stop is:  Four Winds Quilting and I LOVE this little shop from the minute I walk in.  It is small and intimate with lots of great ideas and fun products.  The first thing I spot is the wall of great wool projects.  I keep being drawn in towards these and see one popping up in my not too distant future.  I LOVE the snowmen projects.  Oh my.

A Day With Mister - Fun Stuff EVERYWHERE

Oh goodness.  My sweetheart actually is running away from work today.  And I do mean running.  We are out the door and away from computers.  Now what?  How about an estate sale or two?  There are a couple right near the house and we are off to see what treasures might be in need of a new home.  The first stop nets us a wonderful partially finished hand-stitched quilt top and the remaining pieced blocks.  All I have to do is figure out a white fabric to use with it.  We also locate a box of old thimbles and a beautiful scarf.  The second sale gives us two organizers filled with parts that Mister can use along with a TRAIN.  Total expenditure of these two stops is $34.49.  (The Spirograph came later)

Saturday Craft Show and Antiquing

I let Mister sleep in this morning and as a result we are now quickly trying to get out of the house and get to Debi K.'s craft show in Hurst, TX.  It's about 45 minutes away and we are late, late, late.  When we arrive, the only parking we can find is in the back 40 and our walk into the building takes us at least 15 minutes.  Goodness but there are a lot of people here.  First things first, we go find Debi and say hi before wandering off to get some coffee and a pumpkin spice cake for breakfast.  Her booth is already full of people and sales are brisk.  Nice.

Another Successful Adoption

Well hello there pretty lady.  Welcome to our home.

This little sweetheart was sitting all lonely and needing love on Craigslist.  Mister spotted her and made the appointment to rescue her.  She's home with us now and awaiting her spa treatment to be brought into the house and lovingly stitched with.  Now for a name for this cute 1946 Singer 66.  She came with her cabinet and stool for the wonderful price of $40.00.  Woohoo.

Please Welcome Danielle - My 185K

Introducing Danielle!  We purchased her at an estate sale last spring and Mister has just finished bringing her back to her glory along with her cabinet.  I am over the moon happy with her.  Her first task will be to finish the Bargello quilt that I started yesterday.  What a beauty.  Enjoy the eye candy.

A Sweet New 301 Baby

Mister was perusing Craigslist yesterday and spotted this sweet 301A.  After sending the listing out to a friend who wants one, we contacted the owner for more information.  When said friend opted out, Mister couldn't stand to let this one pass.  We set up an appointment to go have a looky, looky and knew at once that we wanted her.  Just take a peek.  She came with the cabinet and lots of extras for $75.00.

I LOVE the side storage area.  I don't think the lady who owned this (inherited from her grandmother) knew the bottom drawer was even there.  The dust layer inside is THICK.  For some reason there is a hole in it, but Mister can work his magic and repair it.  She had been using this 'door' as the brace for the table.  When Mister released the actual brace, it too had a ton of dust on it.  Never used.
