Focus - 2026 Theme

I'm so ready for a new year and a new focus.  As many of you know, last year was a bit of a mess for myself and my family.  Oh heck, that's being nice.  It was a beast of a mess.  We have survived it - still some kinks being worked out - but for the most part it is in the rear view mirror.  The theme WAS Chaos to Contentment and in some weird way, it happened.  I am calm.  I have a renewed ability to discern what I need to focus on and how to keep the chaos at bay.  Hence the new theme.  Each year we have a focus word and this year, I want it to actually be FOCUS.

For January - we will use the word itself.  Take a bit of time to focus on goals or plans for this year - lay out a rough draft.  If you get too detailed, there is no way on God's green earth that it will go as planned.  Just a rough outline is best.

Take the time to focus.  Get yourself on your own page.  If I can do it - so can you.  In years past, I wrote down a monthly plan that was basically only involving one area of my life - quilting.  This year, I've accepted that all the other areas can infiltrate those plans.  As a result - I'm adding them in to the "things to accomplish" each month.  Crazy things like: cook dinner now and then, calendar things as you agree to them (beats saying okay and then forgetting and running around like a lunatic trying to still make it happen), read a book, go out to a movie, etc.

Another big one - allow yourself a lighter load.  Take time to focus on family.  I'm serious.  Each day can bring a change that you are not prepared for.  Everything we went through as a family this past year did manage to bring my own personal relationships with each member to a wonderful place - a blessing through tribulation that I am oh so grateful for.

Each successive month, we will work with a word related to focus.  All designed for the month itself and to give you ideas on how to expand you own particular focus for this year.  Pick you priorities.  Plan your time.  Have less stress and more quiet moments.  Oh - an break away from the phones - put them down.  Put the tablets down.  Limit your time each day so that you HAVE the time to do the things that are on your list.  Ask me how I came to understand that one.  Let's let 2026 be the best year - no matter what is thrown at us.
