March Quilt Update

Welcome to the Monthly Update.  What does that mean?  Well, it's just little ol me trying to recap what took place during the month so that I can keep track.  I kind of use it like a journal.  Please sit back and enjoy a peek into a month of my life.

Any links that you click in this post will open in a DIFFERENT window, allowing you to continue reading this without losing the page.

The previous 2017 monthly update links are located at the end of this entry.  I hope that you make it that far.

Goals:

Easy Street (ES) - quilted, bound -
Garden Party (GP) - Clues 5,6 YES and backing, binding, label made
Sewing Mats - 5 bound - YES
Midnight Flight (MF) - blocks made
BOM (blue) quilted and bound -
BOM (Thimbleberries) set, backing made, label made, quilted and bound -
BOM (pink) quilted and bound -

1st  - It's an organizational type of morning.  I'm trying oh so hard to get all the finished quilts from last month put away.  That means I need to write on the labels first.

March Brazos House Retreat - Luck O' The Irish

Has a month already flown by?  It appears so as I am driving back through the gate onto the Brazos House grounds.  Yes, I counted the cattle guards and somewhere between number 1 and number 5 I made a decision not to push myself this weekend.  Not on projects and not on "stuff."  I am going to try and just dwell amongst friends for a few days.  Pretend that the big bad world is out there somewhere but can't touch me.  It's a plan.  Now, let's go through the gate.

Garden Party Clue 6 - Bonnie Hunter - Plano Mystery Quilt -- REVEAL

March 7, 2017  Oh happy day!  The final step is here and I seriously couldn't be happier.  Yes, I know that it actually posted a few days ago, BUT today is the first chance I have to make some progress.  Rising first thing in the morning, I am trying to get a few things done including make breakfast for my sweetheart, but I just keep laying down blocks until my living room floor is filled.  It looks oh so fun.

Dallas Quilt Show 2017

In between trips, the gals are getting together for the Dallas Quilt Show.  I certainly can't turn that down so I leave Mister working from home and zoom down the road to Mama's Daughter's Diner for the breakfast meetup that Stephannie put together.  I LOVE these chances to renew friendships and make new ones.  First we are 9 but then Carol, Janet, and Suzanne arrive.  That makes an even dozen.  Perfect.  (I guess Harry, the Sock Monkey (made for Carol by Sherri) makes 13, but . . . .)

Garden Party Clue 5 - Bonnie Hunter - Plano Mystery Quilt

This is IT!  The last of the parts and pieces on this pattern.  Next week, we're setting this sweetheart.  However, today's parts are still oh so important.  We are making the setting triangles and the corner triangles.  MOST important.

I got a slight jump ahead last weekend while at retreat in that I cut all the parts and sewed the smaller units.  That's it.  I didn't stitch any units together and now I am sitting down to get the job done.  I have exactly 2 hours allotted to sew today so this better happen.

February Quilt Update

Welcome to the Monthly Update.  What does that mean?  Well, it's just little ol me trying to recap what took place during the month so that I can keep track.  I kind of use it like a journal.  Please sit back and enjoy a peek into a month of my life.

1st -  Apparently 2017 is going to fly by as quick as last year did.  We are already starting the second month and when I look at the calendar in front of me this month, I know I am going to just blink and I will be typing the last entry on this post.  Today is catch-up day.  Blogging, finishing prepping the woolies for retreat, packing, laundry, etc.  Those mundane, everyday chores in life that keep us away from sewing machines but just HAVE to be done now and then.  No worries though -- today leads to tomorrow and TEN days of fun.

With it being the beginning of a new month, I need to remember the mantra for this year.  Gotta take care of myself in order to take care of others.  Just gotta.  If you don't believe me, well try taking on something when you're a mess.  It doesn't work well.

Those Paper Plates!!

I have invited Allison to do a guest post on the paper plate method that so many of you have asked me about.  Please welcome her and I have a note at the end for you to check out -

Okay, here goes . . . Allison Bayer here, guest poster at Deb's urging.  Those paper plates you see pop up in her posts?  That's me happily slogging through a mega-tiny-many-pieces-block that I need a bunch of to make a fantastically scrappy quilt.  This is the Tri-Rec unit from En Provence. I did two units per plate (because that is what fit -- no spill over or you can have a disaster).
