Epic Road Trip - Days 10 - 11 We're Home!

Well, drat.  It is our last few moments here at Quiltville Inn.  They have been magnificent.  Did I get a lot of sewing done?  Nope.  Do I care?  Not in the least.  I am off to 10 days of retreat in one week and there will be plenty of time to sew.  This was a time to experience, share, laugh, and just enjoy.  I wouldn't change one single thing.  Honest.

The sunrise is happening --- the time is getting closer.

Bonnie arrives in a bit of a frantic as she has a bedroom set in the cellar that she sold last night.  Out it must come so between Sherri, Sam, and I -- it happens.  With that finished --- a personal moment to say thank you and give hugs occurs.

Load 'er up ladies --- it's time to hit the road again.  See you later, Bonnie.  Time will fly.

We have gas for awhile and know that we have a crazy long day ahead of us.  West Memphis, AR is our destination for the evening and that's quite a distance to cover.  It's time to put the pedal to the metal.

Hello Tennessee!

Culver's for lunch.  Stories abound over a "voice like butter."  These girls.  I love them so much.

Sherri's turn to drive and I'm burying threads.  I have to VERY messy skinnies to work on.

Google sends us down a side road to avoid the back-up on the interstate.  It's crazy beautiful

However, we cannot avoid it entirely.  Dang it.

Even with as far as we had to go --- the miles have clicked off and Mississippi River comes into view.  It's not dark yet and that's just wonderful

Howdy Arkansas.  We are almost ready to stop.

West Memphis Hilton.  Whew.  Everyone is ready to walk around a bit and take a break from the van.  Some are ready to relax while working on a dinner plan.

The locals have suggested Tacker's Shake Shack and while waiting for others to join us --- there is a pool table in the lobby.  Of course, we played.

Now for dinner.  What a cute place.  So MUCH Memorabilia.  Wow.  Take a peek around.

After dinner, and back at the hotel, the saga of the lost shirt (I know -- I haven't shared that story, but just know that it exists) has come to an end.  We match again.

Hot tea and peppermint schnapps for the nighttime win.  How about some cutthroat pool?  It's a fun evening, but early as we are out of here with the chickens.  Something fun is planned.

28th - The day has arrived!  Our last day.  It's welcome and sad all at the same time.  I'm ready to see my sweetie, but have thoroughly enjoyed my time with these amazing women.

This time -- Hilton gets it right.  Breakfast is available.  Plenty of choices and all are happy.

Out the door by 7 once again.  These early days are gonna get us BUT we have a fantastic reason today.  Marshall Dry Goods is 2 hours away and a slight detour.  It's been planned and we have saved for it.  Please take a moment to check out the MDG LINK and share in our bounty of both fun and fabric.  If the van wasn't packed before, it's crazy full now.

We've opted to go for a bit before lunch --- Sam has definitely created a nest.  Apparently corners really need to be taken carefully.

By the time we locate Chef Candace in Cabot, AR, we are ravished and crazy pleased.  The food is so good and the place is cute as can be.  A win-win for weary travelers.

I peek into the back of the van before loading it back up.  WOW!!!  Where do these people even sit?  Now, in all fairness, it's pretty tight up front too -- we have built a tower between the seats and have items stuffed under the seats in front as well as a sewing machine on the floor of the passenger side.  Yes, THIS is what we do to have fun.

Now, let's go home.  We are currently North of Little Rock and have a bit to go, BUT as we come to THIS SIGN the whole van cheers.

Into the metroplex and honking ensues as we pull into the driveway.  Spouses have arrived and they start in with unloading the big stuff.  YAY!!!  Meanwhile, we work on the stuff in the seats.

It just keeps coming and LOTS went straight to other cars.

Well --- we didn't kill each other!!!  It was just so much fun.  What a truly EPIC trip.  SO, MUCH. LAUGHTER.  Love y'all so very much.
