A Unique Quilt Show/Shop in Fossil, Oregon

Our destination for today is Fossil, Oregon, a place we think may offer a good viewing of the eclipse tomorrow.  As we arrive in town, there is a street fair in place.  Everyone is having a great time and I spot a sign over a door that it appears hasn't opened in a very long time.  However, the sign looks new.

I go next door to the Fossil Mercantile and peek in.  Well lookie here -- I've found the quilt show.  Enjoy the eye candy.

Real quick --- oh these coolers take me back in time.  Love, love, love them.

Back in the corner of the store, I come upon this:

So very cool.  The fabrics are new and vibrant, it shows a community that loves this art.

Many of the quilts carry the same maker's name and we ask about her.  Turns out she is outside manning a booth and so I have the chance to find out that the total population of this town is 350 souls.  There are THREE longarmers in town.  Crazy.  Their guild is active and you can tell with this display.  She said that over half of the quilts displayed this weekend have been sold already.  Wow.  If you make it to Fossil, be sure to look up the local quilters.  They have it figured out.
