Roll Roll Cotton Boll - Clue 8 - Bonnie Hunter - Mystery Quilt

8/5  With Clue 7 posted, I am determined to keep going on this.  There is the added pressure that I am leaving town in a couple of days and need to clean the living room.  Thus, onto Clue 8 --- BORDERS.

These borders are INTENSE!  No joke.  I am so glad that the billions of pieces were part of the previous clues.  I think I would have fallen over and gone with a plain border otherwise.

After laying out groups of 8, I just sew.  And sew, And sew.

The end of my day has ONE completed border and all of the corner triangles laid out.  Yep, I agree that it sure feels like there should be more.

8/6  Today is the DAY!  I have given myself just the morning to get these borders under control so that Mister and I can run errands for the family reunion that is rapidly approaching.

By putting my nose to the grindstone, I have the completed border triangles, all four border strips AND the inner border, label, and binding finished.  Love leader/enders as I make all the extra parts while I'm working on the top itself.

Now -- gotta go shop for awhile.

While watching the Olympics, I remove all the dog ears and then also take a few minutes to sew one triangle onto each border strip - yep this is the magic part.

8/7 - Well, I'm over 10 weeks late on this post.  Where did the time go?  But guess what?  Mister says I am a pit bull this morning/afternoon and simply won't let go until I finish.  Perhaps he is right because I am truly jamming around here.  Inner borders go on FAST!  Loving the green.

Next the outer borders and corner triangles.  Oh my happy heart --- everything fit.  I even take the time to stay stitch all around the outside edges due to the billion triangles.  This is something I rarely do but dang -- I want these to stay put.  TA-DA

Now for the back.  I make a dash to the studio and return with two fabrics from stash that need to go away.  A tiny little bit of leftovers in the center and yay --- my back is finished too.  I am going to post this clue now but will update when this lovely is quilted.  Hopefully it won't be 10 weeks from now.  That's all I have for today but always remember that if you click on the summary tab at the top of the blog, you will be able to follow a link to purchase Bonnie's book if you wish make this wonderful quilt.  Now to finish packing.  Have a great week everyone.  Update below.

UPDATE 2/8/17  This one is now in the Done column.  It was quilted by Allison Bayer with the Bora Bora pattern.  Woot woot.

    1. Thank you so very much. I'm loving it and have my fingers crossed that MCM will finish this year, however it has a few in front of it. Time will tell.
