June Quilt Update

Goals:  I am no longer even attempting to comment on those that were not touched.  They'll just stay on the list until they are achieved, even though life jumps in front of them now and then.

Easy Street (ES) - quilted, bound -

1st -  Summer camp sessions are in full swing leaving me with minimal time sewing.  Today, however, will be an exception as little girls are sewing up a storm with me.  To read the fun story AND see the videos, please click   HERE.  (BAD lighting in these pictures.  sigh)

2nd -  It's a little girl kind of day.  We decide to put those aprons to use and bake some cookies.  It helps the mood with the fact that it is raining out.  Perfect cookie weather.  Hmmm --- chocolate chip anyone?

Side Table Ironing Board

Last year we stopped at a local church garage sale and picked up a set of tv trays that are all wood.  I was determined at that point to make myself a set of ironing and cutting side tables.  Then they sat.  And sat.  And sat.  One took up residency next to my sweetie in his office, but the others just hung out.

I picked up the supplies a couple weeks ago and today seems like a good day to just get a simple project finished.  It will make me feel a wee bit better as I have been in summer camp sessions with my grands for over two weeks now.  A little TA-DA is in order.

Step one is to lay out the grey cover fabric with the right side down, top it with the Insulbrite and then I even add another layer of batting just to make sure the wood doesn't get too hot.  Now to place the tray table upside down on the whole little sandwich.

Weatherford Antiquing

It's a "switch" day.  That means I am switching kids out and moving from Summer Camp Session 2 to Session 3.  The meet-up area is around Weatherford, Tx and Mister has graciously mentioned that if I want to stop anywhere, he will be happy to.

I'm always up to a quilt shop stop and have been to Quilting Around before but loved it so will peek inside quick.  We have Jared with us and I try to interest him in making something while he stays with me, but it's a no go.  I do spot this one quilt on the wall and think Hmmm.  It does have possibilities.

Helping Jennifer

When my daughter, Jennifer, sent up a HELP to get a project done for her Master's class and it involved quilting, what's a girl to do?  THE SAME THING.  After posting for help several responded and arrive at my house early Saturday morning to see what how we can help her.

Once we have our little sweat shop built, it's pedals to the metal and sew, sew, sew.  She is doing a Tesla themed Quilt As You GO with the blocks already made.  Our job is to sash and attach the blocks to each other and then into rows.

Sewing With Granddaughters

Ah, little girls.  There's a reason that I was blessed with four daughters.  I like little girls.  Oh, don't get me wrong - I adore my son and grandsons too, but for some reason I DO little girls well.  I just GET them.  Plus - they like the things I like.

Elena and Malea have decided that they would like to sew something to wear and I need to pick up some drawstring cord for Ophelia's bag so we are off to JoAnn's for a cute, EASY pattern and some fun fabric that they get to pick out themselves.  When we walk in the door, there is just the cutest apron on display and we talk about that until they decide the want to make aprons.  Okay -- off to the pattern books to see if we can find an easy one.  After locating one that has very few seams and the whole thing covered with bias tape, we think we have a winner.  Can't be too hard right?  Success.  Now for fabric and bias tape.  Elena chooses cupcakes and Malea is after butterflies.  With fabric, bias tape, and drawstring in the cart, we are ready to go.  As we are walking up to the front, they spot this super cute shirred fabric that MUST be made into dresses.  It's simple enough so back to the cutting table we go.  Now we are definitely set for a project day at home.
