Allietare Clue #1 - Bonnie Hunter - Mystery Quilt

Thanksgiving is behind us and that means that the long-awaited day for the first clue of Allietare has arrived!  Did you do a happy dance like me?  Did you sneak out of bed several times during the night checking to see if it had posted?  Well, I did and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Finally the post comes through.  Ahhhh --- HST's.  Yes!  I do love these little units and the number is not even that scary.  Woohoo.  Beats the heck out of the 600 or so that we needed for Jamestown Landing.  OMG.

These are the moments when I am oh so thankful that I have embraced Bonnie's Scrap Users System.  I quickly find my grey and then just grab the tote of 2" neutral strips.  Yep, I can whip this out in no time.

It is 8:00 a.m. when I start.  By 9:15 I have all the cutting finished and wonderful little stacks of neatly matched pairs stare up at me.

"Sew me, sew me," they whisper quietly.  I think it best that I obey but a 15 minute break for a bite to eat comes first.  Now, Netflix and M.A.S.H.  I love listening to the old shows while sewing as I don't HAVE to watch and still know who the voice belongs to and can picture what is going on.  At 10:45 I have a lovely chain made and take the time for the annual "Decorate Mister's Home Office With Mystery Chains" picture.  Tradition must be upheld you know.

Now to press.  I think these are turning out just so dang cute.  The excitement is building for sure.  At noon, I have lovely HST's pressed and sorted.  Oooohhhh.  The clock chimes noon and I have put 3.75 hours into this clue so far.  I am saving the dog ear trimming for this evening while I watch Jeopardy with Mister.  See you then.

Back -- Two Jeopardy show later and I have all my squares trimmed up and ready to rest for awhile waiting their time to be used again.  I have also started my yearly "dog-ear" ornament stockpile.  I think this one will be soooo pretty once we add the red, black, and gold.  Less than 5 hours to complete the clue and now the long wait for clue #2.  Allietare is, indeed, living up to it's name.  (This post is part of the link-up on Bonnie Hunter's mystery.  Please click HERE to go back to that page.)

    1. I started doing it with my first Bonnie mystery so it has become a tradition. It gives me a smile before moving on to the next part of pressing and snipping.

  2. Love the garland office decoration!

Luckily in my part of the world I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to check if the mystery is up. It arrives here just before bedtime at 11pm, so I look at it and then go to bed. Of course I may not get as much sleep as I should, because I'm thinking about the mystery, but that's a different issue!

    1. Hahaha. We all have our own issues don't we? I will just remain sleep deprived on Friday nights for awhile.

    1. I have a little tree in my bedroom with clear ornaments filled with "mystery" dog ears. I don't save them for all quilts, only the mysteries I do.
