March 2020 Quilt Update

The 20's are Roaring Again and are you joining in with our own group ROAR?  I posted all the details in a separate post and here is the Theme LINK to get the details if you want to join in.

If you are new to the blog, you may be asking, "just what is a monthly update?"  I decided long ago that I just can't keep up with blogging daily.  I just can't.  Sooooo, what happens is I document a day in my life within one post and if something special happens, a separate post takes place.  See, you can stay caught up with a once a month check and then, if you're interested, see the other posts too.  It's a great system for me.

In years past, I have set goals for each month and I will continue to do that simply to keep myself on track.  I AM still in UFO mode around here and trying oh so hard to use or clean out the stash.  It will be an ongoing project this year.  If I want something to come in -- something has to go out.  That is one goal.  The balances change each month (hopefully) and will always show up at the bottom of the update if you read that far - and they are joined by links to the previous monthly updates for the year.

Now, grab a cuppa and sit back for a fun read and perhaps a new idea or two.   (P.S. I format on a computer, so if you are reading on a phone, well sometimes the pictures will be before or after the story.  It is what it is.)

Unity Quilt-A-Long - Bonnie Hunter Mystery - Week 1

There is turmoil in our world right now and everyone is staying home for at least another month.  That means many of us have empty calendars and time on our hands.  I know that applies to me, for sure.  I also know that with five children, their spouses, and sixteen grandchildren plus a mother over 80, I spend most of my time worrying to the point of catching myself with my jaw clenched.  This quilt along means that I have a place to focus my thoughts and keep my hands busy as well, PLUS it is motivational as I wish to keep up with the crowd.

I have changed up Bonnie's colors this go round as I was gifted some fun panels at the last quilt retreat and I want to use them in the back.  That means I'm going with "Spring."  What do you think?

Brazos House Retreat - "Biker Fun"

The Biker girls are arriving and everyone is soooo excited to see one another.  The hum in the room tells me that so many re-connects are taking place and the joy is obvious to hear.  I LOVE when the room buzzes.  Frieda gets us going with the cutest TA-DA ---- (psst, she was a tweener and has been working on it more than this morning).

Brazos House - March Tweener Time

Tweener Time has begun.  Saying good-bye to the first group has taken place and it's DOWN TIME.  Much needed down time.  I have my Talking Turkey blocks ready to complete, but the motivation factor is really down.  We are hearing stories of panic buying and the Coronavirus beginning to be a recognized issue.   The days start blurring together and it's taking a toll on me and I find myself crawling into bed to literally retreat from the world.  I'm happy to say that my friends are so amazing and just won't let that happen.  Miss Paula even sends me into giggles by crawling in to join me.  I wish y'all could have witnessed it.

Brazos House Retreat - It's a Slumber Party!

The first of 2020 back-to-back retreats begins today.  It's a foggy morning with the clock showing between 6 and 6:30.  I was hoping for a bit earlier departure, but bed felt really good this morning.  The fog stays with me all the way to the center and the very first thing I do upon arriving (after hugging Val) is book it down to the river for an up close look-see.  I LOVE the sunrise on the water and the fog all around.  It gives the place an ethereal feel and I can sense the peace setting in.
